Big Boi Is Back With New Single and Album To Be Released

Big Boi (Antwan André Patton) released his newest single “Mama Told Me”, featuring Kelly Rowland. The track is the first single off Big Boi’s highly anticipated upcoming album “Vicious Lies and Dangerous Rumors” to be released on December 11th 2012. This album is a follow-up to “Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty”, his first stand-alone album, released back in 2010. The album spun off Big Boi's first Def Jam single, the Top 15 R&B hit "Shutterbug”.

The 6 time Grammy award winner reaches back to the late 80’s and early 90’s era with a smooth Pop and R&B feel, with “Mama Told Me”. Kelly Rowland’s voice on the chorus is very sultry and reminiscent of Janet Jackson. The beat is simple yet effective and of course Big Boi is still as great a lyricist as ever. The track is ideal for every audience, whether or not you are aware of Big Boi’s reputation in the rap industry.

Do not only take my word for it, for “Mama Told Me” is getting rants and raves from other publications already. "The OutKast MC's latest single rides an electro-funk groove so spry, Prince-ly and '80s-inspired that you can practically see Molly Ringwald roller-skating to it.” (Rolling Stone "Top Singles," Oct. 25, 2012). The Los Angeles Times raved, "Big Boi illustrates why he's one of the most mellifluous rappers in hip-hop by offering floating verses that move through the measures like sing-along bouncing balls." Aside from Big Boi’s well known talent and previous success, “Mama Told Me” shows “Vicious Lies and Dangerous Rumors” to be an extremely auspicious album.

The track is both amazing and promising; I am certainly looking forward to hearing the new album.
