February 8th 2013

Mika Newton is already a massive star in her native Ukraine, and now she's making strides to realize her singing dreams in the western hemisphere by signing on with music producer Randy Jackson. Launching her career in the U.S. has been something of a whirlwind for Mika, who moved to Los Angeles from Ukraine just three weeks after she came in fourth in Eurovision, turning down tempting offers. Mika Newton is a unique new arrival to the American pop music scene.

Mika was discovered after entering numerous singing competitions, including the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest. Growing up in the town of Burshtyn, in the western part of Ukraine at age five she taught herself to sing by imitating famous Ukrainian and Russian vocalists. She begged her mother to invite friends over so she could perform for them. "I didn't know if I wanted to be a singer, but I knew I loved performing," she says. At age nine, Newton began to enter regional vocal competitions to gain experience onstage taking first place nearly all of them, which led to attention from music industry players. At the age of 16 Mika got signed with record label Falyosa Family Fcatory.

Newton got invited  to travel to Los Angeles for a two-week recording session with veteran songwriter Walter Afanasieff in 2011. During that visit, Newton also sang for Randy Jackson for the first time. "I felt his energy and knew he was something special," she says of the Grammy-Award winner, who is producing her album. Newton loves Los Angeles. She enjoys the weather, the music, the atmosphere she sayd, and she feels comfortable in every way in Los Angeles. "If you are a hard worker, America can appreciate that". Mika did her very first live performance in the U.S. at the Krave Nightclub in Las Vegas. She traveled to SinCity where she spent four days doing interviews, TV appearances and sharing her music with her fans. She also has been taking China by storm, with her collaboration with Ato. (Ato Integrated Media and Eric Zho)

On a deeper level, “I want to perform for everybody" Mika says. "I want to help people with my songs, not just people back home, but people all over the world, especially children."

Mika is ready bring her voice to the American audience. Mika is strongly committed  to charitable work, attending events at foster homes, boarding schools and taking part in auctions to benefit disadvantaged youth. “I feel I have a strong message for young people,” she says. “I want to share my experiences and show them that you can achieve your dreams if you’re willing to work hard.”.

Mika's favorite artist of right now is Adele she identifies a lot with the singer and says she can feel every word she's singing. One of her favorite actors is Hugh Jackman and Meryl Streep. Newton enjoys going to the movies with friends and getting lots of sweets, as she loves candy. I asked Mika to describe her fashion style she said "I love dresses because makes me look really feminine." We asked the star a couple deep question about the tragedies that has happened in the past couple months like the school shooting in Connecticut and what she thought about that and gun control. The star responded "It was disheartening for me because I love children I couldn't stop thinking about what all the parents were going through I prayed all day and send out as many positives thoughts for all the ones who were affected by such terrible news. I think it is a reasonable restriction in order to make sure that guns don't get into the hands of the wrong individuals"

Mika who's now extremely focused on her career says dating is not really her priority at the moment but when it comes to it she looks for a man who's a gentleman with genuine intentions and sweet personality. The bubbly star says she loves baking cakes and that her favorite hobby when she is not on the road is to just be at home baking. Mika is very close to her family and friends even though she left them behind to pursue her dream.  Releasing two singles “Don’t Dumb Me Down” and “Come Out and Play”. Mika is ready bring her voice to the American audience. Mika is strongly committed  to charitable work, enjoying the United States, Los Angeles and her baking. You will see and hear plenty more Mika Newton to come in the future.
